ARRIVAL

You will land on Tromsø Airport (TOS), transfer to Malangen Resort (about 75 minutes). Upon arrival check in to one of our cozy waterfront apartments situated right next to the fjord, overlooking the sea and mountains. When you have settled in and made yourselves comfortable you will have a delicious dinner ready in the hotels panoramic Marmælen restaurant.

SAMI CULTURE

After breakfast we head back up to Camp Nikka for some Sami Storytelling and Reindeer feeding-activity. Camp Nikka is situated beautifully by the lake Nikka in a forest scenery, but just a short walking distance from the hotel. Enter a tepee or ’lavvu’ with a Sami specialist

and hear fascinating stories about the way of life of the indigenous Sami people, their history and beliefs in the glow of the open fire. You will see traditional Sami artifacts and taste authentic Sami food cooked by the fire. You will then get to visit and feed the reindeer that graze near the lavvu and learn about the traditions of reindeer herding and the art of lasso throwing.

Lunch is also prepared the traditional way on the open fire.

Dinner is served in the hotel restaurant, after which we prepare for a magical journey in the dark forest towards the search for the Northern Lights! We start with a briefing about this natural phenomenon and the current conditions before heading out to the best spot with least light pollution.

We will serve coffee, tea and evening snack during the tour and our guide can help you with your cameras to get solid shots of the Aurora if they show themselves. Overnight at the waterfront apartments.

HUSKY SLEDDING

No better way to start the day than a delicious breakfast admiring the fjord scenery! After breakfast you will walk up to Camp Nikka again and meet the cute huskies at the Malangen resorts very own husky kennel.

Our wilderness guides will first give you information about the life of our 4-legged friends before heading out on a sleigh ride with them. Everyone gets to experience the thrill of driving a dogsled, as the group is divided in pairs and we change drivers midway of the tour. The tour goes around the lake Nikka with a beautiful wintry forest scenery.

Duration of the programme is 3,5 hours and the tour is suitable for all ages. Children under 10 years will sit in the guides sled, older children will sit in the sled driven by their parents. After the outdoor activities, you will have a warm lunch ready in the hotel restaurant.

Afternoon is free time for relaxation, maybe you would like to try arctic sea fishing or enjoy our scenic sauna as an afternoon option?

Dinner is served in the seaside restaurant.

After dinner you have one more chance at viewing the northern lights. Or maybe you just enjoy the atmosphere of the quiet forest and warmth of the fireplace on your last night and go through the adventures you have experienced. Hot drinks and snacks are served at the northern lights watch,

DEPARTURE

It is time to say goodbye to beautiful Norway. Enjoy the last breakfast in our restaurant before we get you on the transfer to Tromsø Airport (TOS) for your return trip home.
